Here is my thinking on Alvah's parentage. This photograph was taken in Ballston Spa which is actually so close to Ballston to practically

be the same town. Ballston is where Charles H. & Charolette J. Van Natten were from. In the 1900 census for Balston Charolette
(Jenny in this census) is listed as the mother of 2 children with only 1 still living which means her other child was born and died
prior to the 1900 census. Her and Charles had been married for 16 years atthat time. There are no records to be found for Alvah
which would be the case if he was bornand died before the 1900 census.
