John Q Trimmer was an ardent Republican and was shaving when the news came that President Lincoln had beenassassinated.

He threw down his razor and stated that he would never again touch arazor to his face. The civil War ended April 9, 1865, and five days
later, Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth. This would have madeJohn Q Trimmer some31 years old at the time of
the assassination. At the age of 93 he claimed the distinction of beingthe only person not to have shaved since Lincoln's death. He
kept his vow to the day of his death. In 1877 John Q and Mary E Trimmerhas a set of triplets Fannie Hays, FrankieWashington and
Freddie Lincoln. All three named after Presidents, Hayes (1877-1881), Lincoln(1861-1865) both republican and Washington(1789-1797)
