Irene's birth mother Daisy had Illene and adopted out to her Uncle William Edward and Aunt Nettie Logan. Daisy had come to Cleveland to live with her aunt and uncle Margaret and Harry Wise. She worked at a dept. store downtown (Higbees). She fell in love with a streetcar conductor and got pregnant. She was found in a Salvation Army home (PA or OH) and gave her daughter up at birth. She returned to Pa. and worked as a servant until her marriage in 1910 but had no more children.
